Freelancers

Watched the Blu-Ray of Freelancers today. The movie had 50 Cent, Robert De Niro and Forest Whitaker in it.

Movie is about the corrupt NYC police and its ramifications, and about revenge for 1 of the new NYC rookies. The movie portraits pretty much all NYC cops as being dirty.

One cop runs a pretty deep scheme of corruption and takes under his wing one of the new rookies fresh off the academy, rookie who happens to be the son of his former partner. We learn throughout the movie that the rookie's dad was killed by his partner because he was a rat so this corrupt cop feels responsible for the rookie.

The rookie after learning everything makes a power play and ends up getting his new found mentor killed and taking over. But like his old man, he turned to the DEA and made a deal and will now work undercover.

It was a good movie. IMDB has it rated at 4.2, which I really don't understand why the such low rating unless every single NYC blue pig voted it down, and I give my own personal rating of 7.5.

4:44 Last Day on Earth

Watch the Blu-Ray of 4:44 Last Day on Earth today. It was small indie film with Willem Dafoe in it.

The movie is about the world ending on 4:44 AM due to the total collapse of the Ozone layer. The first 10 minutes you wonder if you're watching 4:44 or some Cinemax porn, but after those first 10 initial minutes they tone down the sex.

The movie wasn't really great but it did have its moments, although not many of them. People handled themselves hell of better than what I would imagine had something like this been real. I doubt there wouldn't be mad chaos everywhere.

Nothing really worth mentioning. It was basically just the camera following this couple on their last day on Earth. How he deals with it, and how he almost give in to drugs at the end but she saved him.

IMDB has it rated at 4.4, and I give it 6.0. If you don't watch this one it won't make a difference in your life, not like any movie actually do or should, but if you got time to kill, why not? I watched it and it was decent enough to kill 1 hour. Oh yeah, it's only about 60 minutes long.

Dark Shadows

Watched my 3rd movie of the day, the Blu-Ray of Dark Shadows. I've been busy playing Guild Wars 2, so when I do take a little break from the game I gotta make it count and watch as many movies as possible.

Johnny Depp stars in this movie as a vampire. It has a bit of comedy, drama, goth and romance. It's about a man who sleeps with a woman, only to find out she's a witch later, but soon after he finds the true love of his life and the witch doesn't take well to it. The witch kills his loved one and curses him to eternal damnation by turning him into a vampire.

After being locked away nearly 200 years in a coffin he comes out and seeks out his old home, place which is now inhabited by distant relatives. The witch is still alive after 2 centuries and even tries to get with him again, but he denies her, although he did sleep with her once more.

The witch doesn't take it very well being turned down once again 2 centuries later and goes after his family and everything he holds dear. At the end there's a big showdown and all the family curse comes to light and the witch is defeated but his new found affection is headed towards certain death and he has to do what he never thought he'd do, turn her into a vampire rather than lose a loved one once more.

IMDB has it rated at 6.4 and I give my own personal rating of 7.0. It wasn't a great movie, it did have its funny moments and it was watchable.

Prometheus

Watched the Blu-Ray of Prometheus today and what an awesome movie it was.

Prometheus is the precursor to the Aliens movie, thus you find out what exactly the aliens in the movie "Aliens" are all about.

Some scientists find evidence of a planet which has visited Earth tens of thousands years ago, and they go there, with the ship Prometheus. Once there we learn that not everything is as it seems, and there's some hidden agenda being played out by the robot crewman but we don't quite know what it is just yet.

As expected it goes on to show what exactly that planet was about and how the "Aliens" came to be. The purpose of that far away planet was so that some alien race could engineer a bio-weapon at a safe location, and they'd use that weapon of mass destruction on Earth. They never got to use their WMD since things went out of control and they had to evacuate the planet, but the "Aliens" are still there, dormant, just waiting for the right opportunity to rise again.

By the end of the movie they find a living species of the alien race that engineered the "Aliens" and they try to talk to him but he wants none of that and goes on to kill people and try to resume his original mission which was to destroy planet Earth. The crew of Prometheus makes a hard choice and decide to stop the alien ship from going to destroy Earth by ramming Prometheus into it.

At the end of the movie 1 of the scientists with the help of the robot pilot another one of the alien ships and try to go to their home world to ask questions as to why they would want to destroy us, which is stupid considering they also have the WMDs on that ship. If an alien race wants to destroy our planet and you are carrying WMDs on the ship, you freaking destroy them FIRST before they get a chance to ever finishing their original plan. Stupid scientist.

It was absolutely a great movie. IMDB has it rated at 7.5 and I give my personal rating of 9.0!

Men In Black 3

Watched the Blu-Ray version of Men In Black 3 today and it was a solid movie.

In MIB 3 a bad alien breaks out of prison and goes after agent K, but he finds a way to get to the past to kill K since he wants his arm, which was shot off by K, back.

When the alien kills K and agent J (Will Smith) realizes it, he goes back in time not only to save K but to save Earth as well, since that alien that went to the past also went back to his home planet and they sent out an alien armada to destroy Earth, which was averted back when K was alive.

In the past J finds K and realizes how he actually smiled and made jokes and sees how different he was. Throughout the movie they, younger K and J, try to find a way to stop K from dying and Earth being destroyed, and when they do find the solution to their problems it comes at a price at the end, especially for J. J finally realizes why K isn't the man he used to be anymore, and it has to do with J.

Overall was a good movie and fun to watch. IMDB has it rated at 7.1, and I give my own personal rating of 8.0.
